  • ASUS VivoBook F510UA-AH51
  • Microsoft Surface Book SX3-00001 13.5-inch
  • Apple MLH72LL/A MacBook Air 13.3-Inch
  • Dell Inspiron 13 5379 13.3-inch
  • ASUS ZenBook UX330UA-AH54
  1. ASUS VivoBook F510UA-AH51

It is surprising to know that the Asus Vivobook laptop is offering so many features for so less money. Let’s check-out the out of the box features of my first choice laptop.

Design– The Asus Vivobook F510UA-AH51 is a sleeker, lighter and more stylish laptop than its predecessor. It measures 14.2 x 9.6 x 0.8 inches and weighs just 3.7 pounds. Asus has primarily adapted the design idea from Apple’s MacBook Air, the thicker hinge-edge area which gets narrower gradually. The laptop has a metal frame which is shiny and glittery grey. The laptop also features super thin bezels with approx. 80% body-screen ratio. The laptop is pretty easy to carry around all day.

Display– The laptop features a full HD display with 1920x1080p resolutions. The screen is vibrant, thanks to the IPS LED display panel which enables perfect viewing angles, also called Asus’s WideView Display. The company also masters in great visual optimization technology which enhances the display experience on this laptop. The screen is also packed with a set of sensors to automatically adjust the brightness, contrast, sharpness, etc. according to the surroundings. Satisfied with the display features!

Hardware and Performance– The machine is packed with strong and powerful hardware for the best experience and effortless use. By this, I justify to the latest 8th Generation of Intel Core i5-8250U processor clocked at 1.6 GHz and 8GB of DDR4 RAM. The storage is ample 1TB HDD but lacks the speed and efficiency of the latest SSD. The laptop has the input of an integrated graphics processor but lacks a dedicated GPU. Asus has it all flexible when it comes to upgrading specs like RAM and storage.

Battery Life– The machine runs 5 to 6 hours straight on a single charge of the Li-ion battery which in my perception is decent when compared to other rivals, DECENT!

Conclusion– I would score the laptop 7.9/10 based on its specs and looks. It is an excellent laptop costing just $509 on

  1. Microsoft Surface Book SX3-00001 13.5-inch

The Surface Book by Microsoft sports a magnificent design from future. It is made from two solid blocks of magnesium with a zigzag designed hinge and flat surface.

The Design – The laptop is very sleek and attractive in design. It is a 2 in 1 laptop which feels sturdy and minimalist. Other than a large piece of glass which is the touchpad, the entire interior is made out of metal giving it the premium solid look that it holds.  It also has a unique fulcrum hinge for 360-degree rotation of the display. The laptop is secure and only moves while using the touchscreen or the surface pen.

The Display– The notebook is quite impressive as well. The notebook with the detachable screen is on the go for its users. It features a 3000×2000 resolution display of 267PPI LCD screen. Microsoft calls it the pixel sense display. It is a 13.5-inch display with phenomenal colour and contrast ratio.

The Hardware and Performance–  The performance is as good as the looks of the notebook. Under the hood, the 2 in 1 laptop is powered with Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and a GPU powerful enough to carry out various multimedia tasks as well as multimedia and video editing. The primary storage option is of 128GB on the surface book by default.

Battery Life– The laptop features 12 hours of on book battery life, but it varies according to the mode you’re in. Tablet mode takes more battery as compared to when connected with a keyboard.

Conclusion – The notebook is an excellent choice for on the go users, who are more likely to switch between a tablet and a laptop. I would score this laptop 6.9/10. The price of this machine is $979 on with default specs which are 8 GB of RAM, and Intel Core i5 with dedicated NVIDIA GeForce graphics.

  1. Apple MLH72LL/A MacBook Air 13.3-Inch

The MacBook Air has been Apple’s success for the past eight years now. Apple can’t get over the MacBook Air variant and it re-launched the device last year with some minor spec upgrades but no change in design. But why is it still selling? Let’s find out.

Design- The design of the MacBook Air is the same as the 2010 original variant. Nothing has changed. Air’s sleek aluminium body steals the show with its looks. The laptop is ultra-portable and light for on-goers. The best part is that the eye-catching Apple logo still lights up bright, just like the good old glowing days.

Display– This is the main back fall for all users out there who wants to buy the Air. The display is OUTDATED! Even the 2017 variant offers a resolution of 1,440 x 900 with a pixel density of just 128ppi. The screen looks faded out when seen together with the crisp and sharp retina displays of the new MacBook Pro and MacBook 12inch.

Hardware and Performance– The thin machine sports the 5th generation Intel Core i5-5350U CPU and 8GB of RAM. Never lacks tons of storage as well, 128 PCIe SSD for fast data transfers and an integrated Intel HD Graphics 6000 chip for average level gamers is everything you get with the MacBook Air 2017.

Battery life– The machine is old but gold, I can justify it by telling you that the Air runs for 10hours and 26min. on a single charge. Long-lasting battery life is one of the core reasons that people still consider to buy the MacBook Air.

Conclusion-  I would score this machine 9.4/10. This laptop is all you need for basic works and usual networking. It offers excellent battery life and portability with great design and great price, i.e., $979. Sweet!

  1. Dell Inspiron 13 5379 13.3-inch

The Dell Inspiron looks the same as its predecessor but enjoys some significant specs update. Let’s unveil:

Design– This device is one of the thickest and heaviest on the market today. It is a two in one laptop, which lacks rigidity in its plastic case with a gap between the display and the base. The interior feels robust with almost no bending but continues the plastic use. The laptop does not give any premium feel and is awkwardly rounded by corners and plastic is plastic, cannot defeat aluminium by any chance.

Display-The display sports an IPS panel with full HD display (1920x1080p) resolution. The display is crisp and sharp as it should be. sRGB colour gamut offers a great experience on the screen. The screen is smart; Pulse-width modulation (PWM) technology adjusts the brightness and contrast according to the human eye.

Hardware and Performance– The beast is powered by the Intel Core i5-8250U chip, integrated with a dedicated GPU which is the Intel UHD Graphics 620. The speed and storage is no issue for this laptop because it has 8GB DDR4 RAM and 256GB storage capacity.

Battery Life– The battery life of the machine does not look that great on the specs sheet, but performs decently well because of the well-optimized processor chip. An efficient Intel does the job. The battery capacity is 42Wh on a single charge.

Conclusion– To conclude, I would say that it is a 2015 laptop performing like a 2017 one. I would give this laptop a 6.9/10. This machine costs $759 only, on

  1. ASUS ZenBook UX330UA-AH54

This laptop is a perfect Blend of stylish Design and Efficient Performance. The Zenbooks by Asus has never failed to captivate its users. Out of all the Zenbooks, the ZenBook UX330UA-AH54 is the ultimate Laptop for students.

Design– This laptop is very much inspired by the MacBook Air design, it is featured with similar looks in respect to weight, size, and performance. But, Unlike the MacBook Air, it covers a protective chunkier border along the display which looks ugly but adds up to the protection of the laptop. It even sports a fingerprint sensor embedded on the top right of the touchpad, enhancing the security.

Display-The display size is 13.3 inches, wide-view and anti-glare screen of Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The screen comes with 1920 x 1080p resolution. The quality of the display is vivid and bright because of the IPS panel combined with the wide-viewing angles.

Performance and Hardware– Under the hood, the machine is packed with the latest 7th generation Intel Core i5-7200U processor clocked at 2.5GHz. There also comes an option to Turbo Boost the device with 3.1GHz clock speed. Speeds at 8GB DDR3 RAM which seems out-dated as of 2018 and 256GB SSD for all your files.

Battery Life– The battery runs for 9hours on a single charge which is okay as compared to other Zenbooks and other rivals as well. 9hours is excellent for a laptop providing such sleekness and design.

Conclusion– The Asus Zenbook UX330UA-AH54 provides its users with a solid performance, a bright, vivid display, perfect audio for perfect listeners, and a 720p webcam for those long video calls on Skype. I would rate this laptop with 7.5/10. This laptop is priced at around $799 for 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD storage.

Till now, you must have decided which one you will be going for. These are the best options available in the 2018 market as of now. According to my opinion, the best option for a laptop under $1000 would be Apple MacBook Air, keeping in mind, its design and performance. The display is a major drawback, looks out-dated in front of the latest Retina displays, but other than this, the Air should be the ultimate machine for users who would not like to spend over $1000 on a laptop machine
